not a mum..but my name is often pronounced Gabriel instead of Gabrielle..ok..that i've grew up with and anyway..there aren't many people in school and not many in my country called Gabrielle/ Gabriele(my name spelling). I get upset when when people spell my name Gabriel..they know i'm a girl but maybe my 'l' is confusing them and so didn't bother to even place an 'e'..this i'm referring to family members mind..cards, presents and all, my name is always spelt Gabriel..and it's been almost 17 years..but what makes me REALLY ANGRY and REALLY UPSET was when my name was spelt Grabiele..(1 was my uncle, another my senior)..for goodness sake i could have cried!! i felt they didn't even give me dignity in my name!! I'm a girl for goodness sake!!the name looks horrible!!

I get aggravated when people CHANGE my name. My name is Katy. Kate is ok, my father calls me that, and yeah, I'm old enough that it fits. But I've always thought of "Katherine" or "Kathy" as a bit more up-tight than Katy or Kate, and just can't stand them. And, the ex-boyfriend that called me "Kat" should just be laughed at. I'm so not enough of a sex-pot.

I know my mother gets frustrated, too. Her name is Andrea. (Pronounced: ANN-drea) Some people just insist on calling her ON-drea, no matter how many times she corrects them, though.

I guess no name is "safe".

Not a mom myself but I get what you mean. Throughout my life my name's always been spelt and pronounced all wrong (my rela name that is and not my name on here. I think it's so frustrated. I've heard so many versions of people trying to pronounce my name and it's so annoying. The worst was after being taught by the same teacher for five years running, and he couldn't even say my name them! It totally gets on my nerves. I'd say just keep reminding the people at daycare that it's Camille and not anything else, and hopefully it will stick sometime.

You guys made me remember that I was often called Michael or my name was mispelled because of the name Michael. It's been a while since anyone has though. I do work with someone named Michelle but her name is spelled like Michael with an "e" at the end: Michaele.

My kids are FOREVER getting their names mispronounced or misspelled. I try not to get mad because that is the price I must pay for giving my kid unusual names. LaShaea has been called LaShay or LaSheea. Some people put a lower case "s" or as her teacher was doing spelling it La Shaea. When some people read Acacia's name that don't have a clue how to say it. She' been call A-KAH-SEE-A a few times. I believe that is another way to pronounce her name but I don't like it one bit. Some folks get confused when I spell her name. I guess it's the double "ac". Jazzi is the only one that lucky except some people don't get it when I say Jazzi with an "i". My new baby, I'm calling her Teavani(TAY-AH-VANI). I know there will be all kind of fun in store for me and her with her name. All my kids' names are worth it because I LOVE their names.

Happens to me all the time. My annoyance depends on the context. My daughter's name is Imogene (with an I as in image). It bothers me when people call her Emma. I correct them each and evet time. After she was born, my mother and my MIL both did not like her name. (too bad for them) MIL called her genie until I told her I did not name my child genie. My mother apeaf the word to all our relatives that we were calling her Ruthie (Imogene's middle name is Ruth). I had to politely tell eacg and every one of them that Imogene was going to be called by her name. Very annoying. It also annoys me when people try to use the little nicknames my husband occasionally calls her. It is his thing with her, not the world's. However, I don't mind when people pronounce her name wrong. I figure that is inevitable living where we do.
