Me too, my dad and stepmum have a house in Victoria, and I spoke to him and he said the fire was one town away so i'm hoping it misses them. My thoughts are with you, and everyone who has had to watch their house go up in flames.

its a strange situation...
half the country is burning, while the other half is under water..
my uncle and grandparents live in country Victoria and the fires came real close to the small town where they live, but a shift in the wind helped avoid a tragedy in our family...
its a horrible thing that has happened..BUT u have to take into account that its the Australian bush, and that part of the country is renouned for fires, dating back hundreds of years, the land woud burn seasonally,hell some of the treesparticular to that erea, the seeds dont even open till after they have been burned..
thats the nature of the Australian bush.. stunning, but deadly..
its the same where i live.. in the tropics, its monsoon season and we have been flooded and cut off from the rest of australia for 2 weeks now, we havnt been able to get simple supplies thru.. some towns have run out of basically everything..
my point is, if u are going to build ur home in these ereas, be prepared fr the worst..
build fire bunkers,use fire proof material to protect ur home..
there are measures..
im not saying that these peole deserve what happened by ANY means, im just saying that they SHOULD have been more prepared..
