I've been really concerned lately about the type of messages my children are being sent. I think that there is a twisted view of how we are to see ourselves.

We get bombarded with media images everyday in movies, tv, magazines etc. that tell us how we are "supposed" to look, act, think and feel. I know that this is nothing new, but frankly, I'm sick of it! I come from a home where eating disorders run rampant. My mom, grandma and aunts were constantly putting themselves down and talking about how much they hated their bodies. I want to break this cyles! I refuse to let my children grow up in a home where the example set for them is to define themselves based on their pant size rather than how kind, caring, or generous they are. Or how much their thighs may jiggle rather than simply being thankful that they have legs that work properly.

When did we get so far removed from what's actually important in life? And how do we reverse this avalanche of negativity that surrounds us??
