Re:My 14 teen year old wants to date should I let her (1 viewing) (1) Guest
Re:My 14 teen year old wants to date should I let her

i'm thirteen now, and am aloud to date if i want, which i don't. i had a seriously short term bf once, ie. like, a week. i don't think fourteen is too young to date. but i think its too young to have sex. we're still kids really. i think you should give her the option. if she has the freedom to date, she'll probably actually decide not to. if she's told its against the rules, she'll rebel against you, its natural. just make sure that she can confide in you, and make sure she knows you'll love her no matter what. xx hope i helped xx

Im gonna say something that people are gonna hate me for but I say NO WAY! There are other methods of growing up besides dating and sex. She is way to young and how would you feel if she came home pregnant? Fourteen year olds arn't the best decision makers.
If she likes a boy why not have him over for dinner or game night, show your daughter that you are interested in her and the boys that she likes. Most fourteen year olds just want their moms to listen to them.
Call me old fashioned but I met my husband when I was 8 years old, he told me he "liked" me when I was 13, we didn't go our on our first date until I was 17. It was worth it too and we didn't have sex until right before we got married and I was 21.
I am thankful that my parents loved me enough to keep me from the things that could hurt me and now my husband and I have a real good marriage and its strong because neither of us have a past with anyone else. I dont have to wonder if I am good as so-in-so in bed or if he compares to such-in-such. Somethings are worth the wait and dating/sex is one of them.

Dating doesn't always lead to sex, especially with a fourteen year old. Give her a time she must be home. As long as you keep your communication open all will be fine. Ask about her date, tell her about your life and how you were when you were a teenager and that you know what she's going through and how she feels. You will become closer and the bond will not be just one of authority but of mutual trust and respect.

do you have any respect for purity?

Most girls that have sex at the age of 12:
a) had their daddy leave them at a very early age
b) have been sexually abused
c) wasn't taught that it is wrong to have sex at that age, religiously, and scientifically.

As for letting a 14-year-old date at the age of 14 is not the smartest choice. I'm a 14 year old and my mom has not let me date either, and for good reason. I WON'T BE MARRYING THE GUY ANYWAY SO WHY WAST MY TIME IF IT'S JUST GOING TO GIVE ME PLEASURE AT THE TIME!!! It's so not worth it. Totally let her stay at her grandma's house! (as long as it's a grandma you trust!) she aught to have a grandma-granddaughter relationship building time.

Everyone Thank you I tried to put all your advice togther to make a good decision.I decided I want at one dinner with this boy or at least a 3 minute conversation but knowing my daughter she would probably hate my guts.Anyway I think it is at least time for me to start letting her go on outings with her friends as long as she tells me with who, doing what, when, where, and how she is getting there. I have many for questions though .
