I see what you are saying about the man reaps nothing. But the fact of the matter is that just because it's not fair that the women must take responsibility instead of the man for what they have sewn together doesn't mean that she should not take responsibility. Just because someone else isn't taking responsibility doesn't give you rights to not take it either. I don't like talking of a baby as a foetus, they are alive and just because they rely on anothers body does not make them any less a baby. Especially because when a baby is born they rely on you just as much as when they were in your womb. A baby is a baby to me from when the sperm first met the egg.

Just a debate:)

Glad you're contributing to keeping the debate friendly I just don't feel that responsibility has to be taken when no one benefits from it being taken? It is not guaranteed that you will be able to provide for this child, or that you will love it either. I would rather be dead before I even knew I was, than hurt, unloved and not taken care of. I think what Bexie means is that as long as the fetus is in the womb, feeding off it's mother, it's part of her body, the body she owns, to a greater extent than it is when it's born.

Most definitely agree except with the last part but honestly i'm not doing abortion debates here anymore because i've never in my year & whatever odd months here seen it end well. IMHO you're probably the only one who could debate & keep a cool level head & state why you feel the way you do. I probably could if i could figure out what i think. Seriously though for everyone if this girl really needs advice why is it being turned into an abortion topic?? How does this BS help the girl? Assuming as Bexie said shes real. Elizabeth how old are you? You can't be older than me...or i hope not at least. Bexie PM me if you see this i want to talk to you :)

If the debate turns ugly it's because of lack of skill amongst the debaters and not the topic itself, don't you agree?
Oh, and I do hope you're right about Elizabeth

...it is the most aweful thing for anyone to go through let alone a young girl who is confused and petrified about what to do... It takes alot of strength and courage to go through with something like that no matter what anyones opinion on the matter is and the girl who my son got pregnant is now an absolute mess after going through with an abortion...

This is not necessarily true. Many girls I know have had abortions without reflecting much over it apart from making out that it was the best choice they had. None of them seem to have become messes. Of course, I don't oppose that you could actually feel really bad about it (like in your example) but you don't have to do so.

I really didn't mean to turn this into a debate, if you read my first post I just put my two cents in for the girl who started this thread. When my advice to her was questioned, especially by Elizabeth, I felt I should explain and motivate my opinions and then it just snowballed from there I guess... I hope we haven't scared the poor thing away with our discussion

Okay, so can we all agree to get back on subject and admit that everybody has their own opinions, and we are not likely to change them with our debate?

In all honesty no. I don't know any of you except Bexie but i've been here long enough to know that abortion debates never end well. You can't get a group of hormonal pregnant women & mothers together to debate about something everyone is passionate about & expect it to turn out okay. From what i've seen of your posts you seem like you could do it with a level head but there are lot's of women who can't. It's sad but true.

I have to be. No one over 15 could be that dumb. I mean i'm pro-life (I think) & she gives every pro-lifer a bad name. She also gives advice that would only work if you're an idiot. JMHO.
