In all honesty no. I don't know any of you except Bexie but i've been here long enough to know that abortion debates never end well. You can't get a group of hormonal pregnant women & mothers together to debate about something everyone is passionate about & expect it to turn out okay. From what i've seen of your posts you seem like you could do it with a level head but there are lot's of women who can't. It's sad but true.

I have to be. No one over 15 could be that dumb. I mean i'm pro-life (I think) & she gives every pro-lifer a bad name. She also gives advice that would only work if you're an idiot. JMHO.

I do see your point, it's not the most easily debated subject. But to me, that just makes it more rewarding.
Not everyone on here is pregnant and/or a mother. And pregnancy or motherhood does not make you a bad debater. Passion for the subject at hand makes the debate more interesting. And also, there are lots of people on here who are just passionate about naming, not pregnant or mothers. And a good debater must be able to identify and adequately treat those arguments that are not suitable and don't contribute to the debate. Perhaps best treatment in that case is to simply ignore it. A stupid argument makes you look stupid and for what I've seen from this current debate most people on both sides seem intelligent and critical enough to not jump at each others throat at first sign of someone's opinion differing from theirs.

I know what you mean about it being hard to be hormonal and pregnant and participate in a debate about abortion. I mean, if you are pregs and you want that baby that is inside of you, the idea of killing that child is horrible and horrifying. It is somewhat impossible to understand how someone could not instantly fall in love with their baby.

Personally, I am pro life for myself. There is no way I could ever terminate a pregnancy, regardless of if it was rape or a health issue. I am not even pregnant and I already love my future child (if God ever chooses to bless me with one). The only way I would end a pregnancy is if the doctors could tell me with 100% certainty that my baby would die a horrid painful death, but it would have to be absolutly sure.

I think that we should stop focussing so much on the people who are going to get abortions and start turning our attentions to pregnancy prevention and sex education. If we can prevent the egg and sperm from meeting, the abortion debate will end.
The federal government spent over $175 Million on abstinence only programs in 2006. There were no federal funds for programs that taught preventative measures.

As of 2009, (from www.guttmacher.org with my additions in italics)

21 states and the District of Columbia mandate that public schools teach sex education; many states, including several that do not mandate sex education, place requirements on how abstinence and contraception are treated when taught.

22 states require that abstinence be stressed when taught as part of sex education;(Only 9 of these must cover contraception as well) 12 states require simply that it (abstinence) be covered during instruction.

15 states and the District of Columbia require that sex education programs cover contraception; no state requires that it be stressed. (9 of the 15 stress abistinence as the only true form of birth control)

If we pay more attention to prevention, there will be less need for termination.

I'm sorry if I've totally misunderstood you, are you pro life as in "I would never terminate" or as in "No one should have the right to terminate"? Just curious.

And I must add that the sex ed really sucks in your corner of the world, I didn't know it was that bad :O

I'm personally pro-life as in I could never terminate a pregnancy, but I wouldn't take the choice away from someone else.

I go to a Catholic school where Sex Ed is minimal (I know this is different in other schools in my area) and basically all we learn about is abstinence.

My middle school has a whole sex-ed program. What does the abstinance program teach? How can they drag out, 'never have sex until you're married' into a full class?

Sex Ed isn't a full class. It's part of a health segment in our Physical Education curriculum in year 9.

They teach about all the STD's and consequences of pregnancy (Catholics don't condone abortion) and then basically say that condoms and the pill are only about 98% effective and the only way to guarantee avoiding STD's and pregnancy is abstinence.
