Re:Scared By Celianne 2 Years, 6 Months Ago It seemed like a full class...
So, they only tell you what can happen if something bad comes of sex? That sounds even worse than sex ed.

Re:Scared By Bexie_08 2 Years, 6 Months Ago Tangerine, I am pro life when it comes to my own body, but I would never even pretend I am capable of making that decision for someone else.
Sex Ed usually amounts to a couple hours per year. Parents can opt out of it if they want. They usually start it at 5th grade, or around 10 or 11 years old, with the "Your body is changing" speech. They focus on health and hygene and your personal area is yours. By 6th grade, you get the "Hormones are raging" talk that covers some body parts and talks about urges and the importance of holding off those urges. In 7th, you get the "STD, BCP, and Condom" talk if your school does that, if not, you get the "Pre-maritalSex Is Bad and You'll Go To Hell".

Re:Scared By Tangerine 2 Years, 6 Months Ago Ok, well that sounds really healthy, your mentality
Hmm, your sex ed doesn't really sound like ours... We start around 11-12 in schools, and then once again at 14, and emphasis is always on protection and preventive methods but mostly on that sex should always be good for both (or more) parts and that it's the responsabilty of everyone involved to use protection. We also have many youth centres for young people of all sexual orientation to turn to for information, contraception, testing for and curing STDs. Sex ed is aimed at both hetero-/bi- and homosexuals.

Re:Scared By Celianne 2 Years, 6 Months Ago We started the whole 'learning about your body' in fourth grade, and got a few weeks of it every year until seventh grade (When AK starts middle school), when there was none at all. In eigth grade, half the year the normal gym period is used for Health, which covers drugs sex and alchohol. We had a TON of guest speakers and movies, which basically said that you really shouldn't have sex until you're old enough to deal with the consequences, but if you do then use protection. We really had a hard time cramming it all into half a year. I don't know about the highschool, as I don't start for fifteen days.

Re:Scared By Bexie_08 2 Years, 6 Months Ago My nephew came home from his 6th grade sex ed class and said that some kid asked if you could use a candy bar wrapper as a condom. The sex ed teacher told them no, but that he had heard of men in prison using potato chip bags. That was some class.
