I am seeing alot of teenagers that are pregnant. From ages early as 13 on...and I am wondering, why? Why does everyone think that sex is okay that young, and before marriage? And I am seeing alot of distress in these pregnant teens from what I read. If people REALLY knew the consequences of sex, I think there might be a change. Like not only pregnancy, but STD's. You wouldn't believe the number of STD's going around out there. Doctors could tell you the truth on that. It's scary. You can't tell it by looking at someone. You think, it won't happen to me. You can't say that- there are people walking around with it and don't even know it themselves yet. You can't be too careful. Even if you think you are protected with a condom- they can have holes or break. I also happen to know that results of HIV transmission studies indicate that condoms may reduce the risk of HIV infection by approximately 69 percent. So they fail about 1/3 of the time- who would want to trust a condom knowing that? Doesn't sound safe to me. Every time you have sex, you are taking a risk of becoming pregnant or worse. The bottom line is the only true way to be safe from pregnancy and STD's is to not have sex before marriage. If people would just do that, they would realize how great it really is, and we wouldn't have all the other problems.

The first time I had sex was on my boyfriend and I's 1 year long anervisery of dating. I was 23 too. Do you think that was a bad age for me to do it?
Also, I think some teens that have sex aren't fully portected. If you don't want to get pregnant, but want to hav sex, use a condom!!!

so many kids are having sex because this stupid goverment and soceity is taking everything away from us! You need to stop preeching your religion everywhere becasue its kind of disrepectful..there are people of other religions on this site and also its not the past were in the present where there needs to be a reality check on all these relgious people because there are a whole lot of other crap going on than relgion and teen pregnancy! i'm pregnant and trust me its probaly gonna screw up life worse than anyone else...i have a 4.0 UNWEIGHTED 8.0 weighted gpa all my classes are honors and i've been homecoming princess 3 years in a row, i'm going to graduate early and i've already met with someone at harvard about a scholarship...so dont think i wanted to get pregnant and disrepect your "god"!

I don't believe age matters- marriage does. I have to speak from experience, it happened to me before I was married. The boy I was dating in high school I felt like pressured me into it. I regret it to this day and would take it back if I could. I thought we would stay together and get married one day. It didn't happen; he cheated on me and married someone else. He had told me he loved me, and we had dated for over a year. I just knew it was real. I was so scared at one time that I may have gotton some disease or something, but I have been checked and am okay. I have felt guilt from that, but had decided even though I had made a mistake I could do better. I met my husband several years later and we did not have sex before we were married, and we are so happy we waited. Just because I had made a mistake before, I didn't want to make it a mistake with him, and he felt the same way. Waiting was the best thing we ever did. Now we have been married for 5 years, and it's been great! As Kels said, God did create sex and intended for it to be for marriage. Anything outside of that and you are going to have problems of some kind. If not now, on down the road. I can tell you that God's way is best! Even if you have lost your virginity doesn't make it right for you to go ahead and continue having sex. You can, like I did, make a change and decide you are going to wait until you are married.

Michelle, what is the government taking away from you? And what does sex have to do with it? I am sorry if my comment makes you mad. In the first place, I did not mention religion in my first comment, but I will agree with kels and I will say God's way is the best way and that is a fact. But you don't have to believe that if you don't want to, nor does anyone else. And as far as the past and present, just because times change does not mean morals change. You can look back at the past and see things were better then than they are now. I am sorry you are pregnant, but that does not mean your life is messed up. It sounds like you are going to make it just fine. But there are others in the same situation as you who didn't want to be, and I am just saying in order to do something about it to help others in the future to keep from getting that way, that is why I made my comment.
