Cooter, yes I'm serious.
By CariannDS 7 Months Ago
My husband says he likes the name Cooter. We were having a casual conversation about possible names for a future son when some how we came around to the name Cooter. At first I thought he was kidding, but I think he's serious. Usually I'm pretty positive when I don't like a name, for instance I say "It's not my favorite" or "I'll have to think about that one", but I hate the name Cooter.

Am I crazy???? Please tell me I'm not crazy???

I even suggested names like Cutter or Cooper, even thought I don't really like those names either but there better than Cooter. He says he's not sure about the other names.

I'm pretty sure I'm not crazy?

You are not crazy. I agree with you. It's not the worst name I've ever heard but I don't like it either. It reminds of Cooter Davenport from the Dukes of Hazzard.

That is pretty bad...did you ask him why he likes it? My first husband wanted to name our son Dusty Earl after a character in Pure Country (it's a George Strait movie) because he had delusions of cowboy grandeur. I like the name Garrett so I mentioned it would be like naming him after Pat Garrett the guy who brought down Billy the Kid. I managed to convince him it was a much better idea since it was the name of a real cowboy.

Pretty bad considering it means vagina. If you name a boy Cooter he is destined to have problems.

Lord have mercy, CariannDS!
Trust me, you are NOT crazy!

Your husband's suggestion reminded me of neighbors we once had who named their daughter a very off beat name. It shall remain secret because I would not want it on my conscience should another poor child be saddled with it!
When my daughter and I asked her husband what their new baby's name was, we thought we misunderstood him. Not so! After extending our congratulations we left and my daughter turned to me and said, "That name is unbelievable! What were they thinking?"
I told my daughter. . . "That is why they should always wait until a woman has completely come out of any anesthetics before asking her to name her child!"

CariannDS!
Has your husband had any surgery, lately?
