Re:whta problems have you young mums faced

Hello.
I'm what's considered a young mom, so I'll tell you what I've been through in the nearly two years I've be a mother.
I found out I was pregnant when I was sixteen, and I was terrified. I've got a twin sister, Ryleigh, and she was the only one that knew until I was about seven months pregnant. My parents travel for business often, so it was just my sisters and I until they came home.
My mother and father promptly kicked me out of the house, and I moved in with my now husband's parents. They were entirely more accepting, and even excited about the babies, so they were more than welcoming. Plus, they didn't want me out on the streets or anything.

I'm eighteen now, soon to be nineteen, and I'm pregnant again. However, I finished high school with a 3.95 GPA and I'm attending Yale this coming fall.

So yeah. It's not easy, but I believe it was worth it in the end. I wouldn't trade my unorthodox family for the world.

Congratulations and good luck. I think part of your attitude however is that you are a bit naive because you have not actually had the baby yet. May be in ten years you will have the right to come back in same that teen mom face the same things as all the other moms. But lets be honest, that is not true. When you are older, married, and actually plan to have a baby, chances are that you are going to be more financially and mentally prepared.

Again, it's great that you are take responsibility but I have a real hard time with the statement that there is nothing wrong with teen pregnancy. There is a seriously problem and feel for all the teens out there that do stop to think about the repercussions. Also maybe people do look down on you because they know that there taxes dollars are paying for it.

I wish you luck!

Sarah there is no need to be ignorant. Not everyone is on welfare. Even if your working part time at least your doing something to take care of your kids. I've known alot of girls who have had a baby at a young age and trust me the first thing they do isnt go on welfare. Sometimes being a young mother is better than being some 45 year old having a baby. I have nothing against this but think of your child how will you beable to relate to this child when you were a child a very long time ago. Anywayz here is my situation i'm 22 years old i graduated from college in december 2007 i have an associates in science which i really went to school for advertising. I have not stopped working since i found out i was pregnant and yes i'm doing this alone. I've had a full time job the whole time i was in college also. It's not easy going to school 7-1pm and then work 3-11:30 but it was worth it in the end. I currently work for my family now and im due in 14 dayz and i plan on going right back to work as soon as i possiblity can when the baby comes. so not every1 is on welfare so get off that kick. sorry i'm not tryin to be rude i'm just soo tired of people thinking if your young mother or puerto rican, black or anything right away welfare is for them. which im none of the above. some people actually do have jobs and work there asses off to do the best they can and sometimes its still not enough.

mommy2be123 I strongly agree with you on that one.

As soon as i left school at the age of 16 i went straight to college, when i left college i went into full time work until i had my daughter at the age of 21.
I took 6mths off work to be with my daughter then went back to work part time so i could still provide for my daughter along with my husband, i decided to go back part time so i could still spend time with my daughter while she was still young. Now my daughter is 14mths old i have decided to go back full time so we have more money coming in to make sure she has the best in life!
