advice needed on baby bedding and bay clothes
By 1stbb 4 Months, 3 Weeks Ago
I heard its not good to cover a baby with a blanket, so how should he be kept warm? Also are baby sock hats ok for sleep time?

I used a Sleep Sack. You can find them at Babies R Us (or in my case, it came from the baby section at Toys R Us). It is like a sleeping bag with arm holes, and it zips up. It will keep baby warm, and you don't have to worry about a blanket getting up around his face or him kicking the blanket off of him.

Also, like Sweetie Angel said, you don't want to get him too warm. He would probably be okay inside without a hat. Socks are okay. But just be careful that you don't overheat him with too many clothes. The Sleep Sack I was telling you about is light, so that you can put on a light long sleeve underneath it (it is sleeveless) and he wouldn't be too warm.

Yeah i agree with happy2bme: I think sleep sacks are better than blankets, i also used a sleep sack for my daughter, you can get them from most places now e.g supermarkets, i.net.. i just used to put her inside that in her vest & sleepsuit with a very thin blanket near her as she liked to hold & cuddled into it.
I wouldnt put socks or hat on baby for bed/nap just incase he/she gets too hot, nor a blacket- as during the night you wont know if your baby is too hot esp when you are sleeping or in summer, babies tend to get hot quite easy. I know my daughter was a very warm baby, and i could never put thick coats or hats on her as she would get too hot and ressless.

In the winter I always put my children when they were old enough to roll around in the crib and uncover themselves. I always put on a regular sleeper and then right before they went to bed I put a blanket sleeper on, they come in two packs by Gerber I think. Not too expensive. They are called blanket for a reason, they stay nice and warm and don't have to wear a blanket. If they are young infants you can put them in a warm velour sleeper and swaddle them tightly in a receiving blanket. If the room is cold all they need for their head is one of those cotton caps, the head breathes, and if the baby should get overheated then you want the head to be able to breath and cool the baby if needed. Hope this helps.
