okay I was just wondering do you parents make sure your children say yes instead of yeah or what? I was thinking about it a few days ago how many times I correct my children for yeahs and whats, whats your take on it?

I think saying "yes" is more respectful you know if they were talking to older adults, but I have always said yeah and its a habbit for me my parents never corrected me, and now I have to remind myself to say yes when I am talking to my boss or any elder.

We are teaching our son to say "yes". I think "yeah" is disrespectful. I do have to watch myself, though, because I tend to say "yeah" from time to time (when casually talking to my husband and friends, but not when talking to those older than me-I do make sure I say yes and no) and I know I have got to break myself because our kids will follow after our example! Like iluvandy said, my parents never corrected me, either, so it is a habit I have to break.

we only accept proper english from our daughter. if they can speak clearly, by all means encourage it. my girl is 3, and if she can speak properly, im sure older kids can too.
