when i gave birth to my first daughter my husband and my mom where the only people i wanted in there,
but when it came time to have Em, there was 7 people in there, my mom, my hubby, my sister, my sister in law, brians mom, my best friend, and my 13 y.o neice, it was hectic,

when i gave birth to my son, the only person that was in the delivery room was husband.

at the time we where living in hawa'i.
and all our family was back in California.

But with our second child on the way.. .
I only want my husband in the delivery room,
it's the only person that i feel comfortable with.

Ok well obviously i havent given birth but i've been there for the birth of all five of mine.

With Ally both of our moms were in there. We were both a little nervous so having them there was great. They were so supportive and reassuring, it made a long stressful labour easier on us.

With Christine it was just her mom, mine was away on vacation. I know sounds like ever so thoughtful timing on my mothers part but Chris arrived 3 weeks early. Again it was nice having the support but we were much more comfortable with the process by then and the labour was much shorter and easier.

By our third, Jess, we felt like old pros so we decided to just do it ourselves. And we liked the experience of just us and the baby for the first little while, then we allowed in Ally and Chris and had a little time just as a family of 5 before everyone else came in.

We really enjoyed that specail alone bonding time we did the same thing with Beth and Will.

With Henry my wife is considering letting Ally who's twelve in the room, if thats what Ally would like to do, no pressure or anything on her. Ally seems to like the idea but shes a little unsure herself. I think we'll play that one as we go. If her labour and delivery go as smoothly as the last 4 have gone then i dont think we will have to worry about traumatizing Ally. If its harder then we'll probably not do it.

Is it selfish to only want your husband in the room? Is it selfish to say "no" to the moms on both sides? Is it selfish to want this experience just for yourself and your husband?

It's not selfish at all. Your body, your delivery, your new family, your decision who is in the room.

I'm due in December and I want my boyfriend of course, my mom, and my best friend Amanda. I want my mom there because I am close to her and she went through it 3 times. My best friend because she is like a sister to me.
