Re:Who Will Be in Your Delivery Room?
By Anonymous 5 Months Ago
My friend was shy about others watching her give birth so she had her baby in her bathroom in the bath tub all by herself. Then she cleaned herself up, rinsed off the baby, diapered and clothed him, nursed him, put him in his crib, and went back to work. (she works from home). The baby's about 7-1/2 month old now. Her boyfriend 27yrs left her when she was 3 months along for a 16yr. and her parents don't want anything to do with her. So she had no one to help through her pregnancy or labor.

I haven't seen her in years, I would of tried to help her but she didn't say anything about being pregnant or giving birth until April 24 when she texted saying she had a baby boy named Jaden Tyler.

With our first, my husband was the only one in the room for the delivery (other than the hospital staff or course). We just told everyone up front that we wanted to have this moment to ourselves. Everyone was allowed in the room while I was in labor, but once the doc came in and was ready to get things started, everyone was asked to leave. We made sure the hospital staff was sure to know ahead of time our wishes and they took it upon themselves to ask everyone to wait in the waiting room down the hall. I heard later that they all ended up huddled around my room door waiting to hear her cry.

With our second, I asked my mom and mother-in-law to be in the room for the birth. And again this was all discussed ahead of time and the hospital staff was aware of our wishes.

I think the most important thing is to make it clear with everyone ahead of time what you would like and leave it at that. This is your body that is spread eagle on the bed for everyone in the room to see and you should have the say as to whom is in there to see it. And make sure the nurses know what you would like and let them handle it from there. Our nurses did a good job of that.
