Picky eaters? By happy2bme 5 Months Ago I was just wondering if all toddlers are picky eaters? What are your children eating between the ages 1 and 2 years old?

Re:Picky eaters? By proudsoon2bemom 5 Months Ago not all toddlers are, but my 2 year old is, not in a bad way though, i mean maybe a little because i cant get her to eat anything green for the life of me, she loves grapes but wont eat green grapes, she wont eat lettuce, peas, green beans. but any other vegetable, she eats.
i always try to feed her something new every week, just to try and see if she likes it, and if she doesnt i dont give it to her again,

By picky 5 Months Ago my daughter is pretty picky. she will eat most things, but does not like tomatoes(too squishy), lettuce(makes her gag), beef(not sure why), and will only eat green grapes(the other ones are gross). she is insistent that she doesnt like vegetables, but she will eat mushrooms, carrots, beans, peas etc so long as you dont call them vegetables. she's 3 1/2 now, and has always been picky but has only recently given reasons for why she doesnt like things. she is also very picky about fruit, will only eat bananas, grapes and apples, and loves all berries except blueberries. she will help me make smoothies with things like peaches in them, and loves those. my situation may not be typical though, because she has severe ocd and sensory overload(cant stand the hair own her own head sometimes)....
ok that was long winded. to answer your question, my daughter is and always has been extremely picky.

Re:Picky eaters? By CariannDS 5 Months Ago My daughter is a very good eater. She will eat most things and even most vegetables. I either read or watched someone say "A person needs to taste a food at least 10 times before they can decide whether or not they like it." I have tried to go by that advice. My daughter used to like eggs and now not so much but I keep giving them to her to try, the same with green peppers and cheese. Some days she will eat them and some days she won't. I got her to eat beats by mixing them with a little yogurt (low sugar yogurt) and it worked.
I was very adamant that my daughter was going to be a good eater because I have two nephews who will hardly eat a thing. They are very pick and won't touch a vegetable unless it’s a potato (which of course isn't a veggie). I don’t think it's health. Besides I don’t have the best eating habits and I would like to teach my daughter to eat better then I do. Last Edit: 2008/07/01 15:29 By CariannDS.

Re:Picky eaters? By happy2bme 5 Months Ago I agree, CariannDS, about offering it to them again to try even if they don't like it the first time. There are alot of things my son didn't like at first, but I would continue to offer it to him and now he likes it. I think some people give up too easy when their child won't eat something the first time, and maybe that is how they become picky eaters. Right now my son is being a little picky, but I am hoping it is just because he is working on getting 4 molars all at once. He is spitting out alot of his food and not eating as well.
