Thanks Sara, I am glad you are going to do the research and make an informed decsion. That makes me feel better.

And Puck, yes my husband is snipped and that may very well be why he wants to do it to our future son. If it is I wish he would just tell me. But I still don't think it would change how I feel. It would just continue an unnecessary cycle. If I put my foot down now maybe it won't even be an issue for my future grandchilderen.

Thanks to you both for your comments.

I TOTALLY AGREE. I HAD DECIDED NOT TO GET MY OLDEST SON CIRCUMCISED AFTER I SAW ANOTHER LIL BOY IN THE HOSPITAL(WITH MY SON) THAT HAD JUST HAD IT DONE AND HE WAS SCREAMING HIS HEAD OFF EVERYTIME THEY CHANGED HIS DIAPER. AND AS SOON AS I SAW THAT I WAS LIKE I'M NOT PUTTING MY BABY THROUGH THAT FORGET IT!!!! LUCKILY MY HUBBY DIDN'T CARE EITHER WAY AND HAD LEFT THE DECSION TO ME. I HAD SOME FAMILY THAT HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT BUT I JUST TOLD TEM LOOK THIS IS OUR CHILD AND OUR DECSION. AND WHEN I HAD OUR SECOND SON MY OBGYN WAS HAPPY THAT I WASN'T GETTING HIM CIRCUMCISED. ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE MAKING THE DECISION TO NOT CIRCUMCISE!! SO GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DECISION

My question is why not get them circumsied? You say it opens them up to infection and injury but as they get older it could be 100 times worse. Now a days doctors make it so that the baby receives the best care and protection for circumcisions. Every male in my family has had it even my friends sons and they are all fine.

Finally a male related topic!!! I actually have experience here where you lovely ladies dont, im amazed.

Being british born, my parents opted not to circumcise me as a baby. In Eurpope its not the norm to preform a cirmcumcision on boys. Its done but not to the same extent as in say north america. Personally i've never had any problems people talk about having as an uncircumcised male.

We decided not to bother circumcising our oldest son Will and hes been prefectly find as well. We wont be doing it to Henry either when he arrives.

I really dont think its a necessary thing. If it were a problem to leave males natural then why is it that many highly developed nations seem to shun the procedure. the answer seems to be its not that necessary after all. Its just something some countrys have latched on to and use medical necessity as their reasoning.

To be fair though if one chooses to do it thats thier individual choice for their son and no one has a right to judge either way. Everyone has their reasoning for doing what they do. Some do it on the advice of their doctor, some so that fatehr and son look the same and some for religious reasons, but in the end it has to be your choice for your son.

Good luck to all of you out there making your decision.

I just had a baby boy and my husband and I decided not to circumsize him. My husband was against it because he has not been and I am really in a neutral position. It isnt necessary and my husband and I made the final decision because it should be the boys choice not the parents. When he gets older he will have the choice to do it or not instead of already having the decision made for him. But when you do have the boy and you dont circumsize him just remember you do have to pull the extra skin back little by little so the penis can work its way through.

I think that whatever you do you should have the father's support if he's involved in the child's life. If the child sees that his penis is different from his father's and wants to know why, you don't want the answer to be "I didn't want you to be like this but your mother insisted".
