Microwaves are a no no?
By FreshDrinkOfWater 3 Years, 7 Months Ago
Hi,

I heard once that standing in front of the microwave can cause some sort of brain cancer or a tumor. I only say this because typically I assume your children like to stand and watch the popcorn pop in the microwave. Apparently the radiation goes into your body and can cause cancer or a tumor or something like that. I was wondering if anyone has heard of that before?

Thanks,

Claire

my parents never had a microwave in our house because they were health weirdos and didn't want us to get radiation poisoning

Ok, Definatly not. I watched a program on tv, a whole showw on how that myth was an urban ledgend, and no one should worryl. All my childhood I stood in front of the microwave when the popcorn was in there, jumping whenever I heard it pop. And I have 5 -soon-to-be-6 healthy kids Don't believe the rumors

thats been proven untrue, but if you're a guy who likes to take things apart you can get radiation poisoning from taking the microwave apart, especially if its older. actually you have a higher chance of getting cancer listening to the radio than watching the microwave.

forgot to add that microwaves use non-ionizing radiation, meaning it cannot chemically change the food. it is a completely different thing from radiation.
