My husband suggested this name for our baby girl, im 21 weeks and had my scan yesterday, they confirmed its a girl


Was thinking about how to spell it maybe different ways and also, what middle names would go with this?

I on the other hand prefer the name Maiya, i think Maiya River is a nice combo

I think River is a cute name, but I agree with you as well that Maiya is a good first name. I think that you should name her Maiya River since even though River is adorable, there is a chance she could be teased for it, or just generally not like being called River. But if it is her middle name she can go by it in place of her first name if she wishes. I think its like the name Winter, personally I think its cute, but if you have it the childs first name they might get annoyed that they have to look over every time someone says something about winter, the same could go for River. But then again that is just my opinion, and if you really love the name go with it, but I think it would be a better middle name.

River strikes me as more of a boy's name. Perhaps because of River Phoenix.

I like River for a girl.. and it would be her mn so I dont see a big problem with teasing. Re: spelling i like it as is, and like the Maia spelling of Maiya better.
