I have a beautiful baby girl named Elliott Eva!
A lot of people were surprisingly opinionated about her name. I just thought it was cute and fun and I honestly didn't think it would be so controversial. Most people were taken back at first (understandably), but a few were down right rude (mostly the older generation.) The nurse at the hospital said it was "awful", my brother thought I was joking, and my own mother begged me to change it.
But I still loved her name and stayed strong.
Now, it seems most people really like it, but yes, I do still get a few "Oh . . . "s.
Elliott for a girl seems to be a growing trend and hopefully people will accept it more. I'm sure the first female Tylers and Rowans got some weird looks, too. Plus, she always has the option of going by the cute and feminine nick-name, "Ellie".
My daughter is 13 months old now, adorable and full of energy. Everyone knows and loves Elliott. I can't imagine her with any other name. Even my mother calls her Elliott now!
Go with whatever name you like, you can't please everyone. The best quote I've heard is"
"The name does not define the child, the child defines the name."
