Yes, you can!! We did when we had our daughter, Elliot Claire, on May 15. People who can't bear the 'boy' name just call her Ellie, which is fine with us. Also can call her Elle. We think it's feminine enough to not seem weird when she is running around with pigtails and pink bows in her hair in 5 years, but also has a strength/command for when she's running our company in 30 years . We didn't pick it b/c of Scrubs but I do think that character would be a fine inspiration...she's sensitive, smart (a doctor!), funny and girly. Can't ask for much more.
We didn't tell anyone the first name while pregnant knowing there would be opinions (everyone loves Claire) on both sides so my mom already had her nickname picked out: Eclaire. I've started calling her Ellie Bear when she 'growls' with gas.

Yep-you can name your baby anything that you want. I personally think more highly of people naming their children more orignial names, not your everyday names. I would maybe soften up the spelling and make it a little more feminine.
Maybe Elyott, Ellyot, etc. Good luck.

I think if you want to name your baby girl Elliot, then go ahead. Who cares what others will say!. She can reply " that's my name and I like it! You have a problem?"

It is one of our top names!

We spell it - Elliette to make it look more feminine!

LOVE it!
