any suggestions, I'm at my wits end
By deniah84 3 Months, 3 Weeks Ago
I'm potty training my 2 year old and after months of trying in vain, now at last we're having great successs. I only use a diaper for night time and he doesn't have accidents during the day, only he won't poop in the potty in any way. When he has to, he just goes and hides and do it in his underwear, if I notice that he's going to do it and put him on the potty he just stops and keep it in, till a time when mummy is not looking. I've tried every possible way, my 2nd baby is due in december and i don't want to have 2 in diapers if possible, so any suggestions are welcome. thanx

He is just not ready yet. Give him time and everything will fall in place. It is a big adjustment for them. Be patient.

hi...i work in a nursery and know from experience that rewards are a brilliant key in encouraging children to potty train....as you have said he has a wee on the potty that is a good indication that he is ready.Put him on the potty regularly, especially after meals.Make sure whenever he wees you praise him with clapping n cuddles. And when he finally does it praise him lots to make sure he continues and associates the pooing on the potty as a good thing with cheering.eg"well done, good boy wow look what you have done!" also to give him stickers that you have made with"well done" on really makes a child feel proud. He has to understand the feeling you get just before you need to go to the toilet and when he knows that will make him go to the toilet without being reminded.like hes doing well now with the wee as he knows the feeling he gets before he needs to go. make sure you make the potty fun for him and talk and encourage him while he is on the potty to prevent your child from associating the potty with boredum and bad vibes.anso all in all its regular sitting on the potty rewards for wees or just for sitting on it,make stickers as rewards and JUST KEEP GOING DONT GIVE UP!he will get it in time...good luck!!!
