Personally I love Amanda. I don't realy think it is dated, and it is a shame to not use some of these names. As many posters say, they hate the fact that some older names are no longer used, so then why put Amanda on a shelf. I also do not see "man" when i look at the name. I have known many Amanda's in my life, and they did not dislike their names any more that Mary's, Evelyn's, etc.

If you love it use it. It means "fit to be loved, or loveable", and was 1st recorded on a 1212 birth record in England and then became popular in the 17th century. So it is one of those names that comes and goes.

i think its nice. never met one who doesnt like her name... and never met one i didnt like.

Thank you misshump! I do enjoy it. I use one of several search engines, such as Google or yahoo Search. I look for reputable sites.Like this site, check the meaning, then a cpl more to see what the majority says. Usually all you have to do is type in "baby name Amanda" and all these sites pop up.
This gives me something to do and I like to share!
