Names to go with Helen
By Rosetta 3 Years, 5 Months Ago
I have a bit of a problem that I was hoping someone could help me out with.

I have been blessed with a beautiful girl named Helen who will be turning two years old this Thursday, the 28th, and, as a present for her (well, not really, haha), I just found out that I'm going to be having another little girl!

I'm actually almost seven months pregnant, but I hadn't been sure whether or not I wanted to know the sex of the baby beforehand up till now.

Anyways, I'm having a hard time trying to come up with a good name! I absolutely love Helen, it's classic, and pretty, and, as an added bonus, in Greek Mythology, Helen was the most beautiful woman alive!
I was considering the name Adrienne, but I thought that the two -en endings would be a bit too much, and I'm not a huge fan of Adrianna, or any other forms of it.

I love classic, romantic, beautiful sounding names, with a little bit of spunk, so that if my baby wants to grow up and be a little tomboy her name won't totally ruin it for her, haha. Helen's middle name is Katia, after my mother, in case that helps. I'd be so thrilled if someone could come up with just the perfect name for my new baby girl. When I first thought of Helen, I just knew that it was the one, and I'm hoping to find another name like it this time. Also, if anyone can think of any names that have stories behind them (not necessarily from Greek Mythology, but from plays, or books, or songs, or anything really) then that'd be perfect. I'm an avid reader, so I always appreciate characters with good names, haha!

Thank you so much,
Rosetta

I knew two little girls (sisters) named Lily and Helen. I thought that was cute!

I just googled and found a list of names associated w/the immortals of Greek mythology. Stumbled on:

Iris Iris, the Wind-Footed messenger of the Immortals.

I always thought Iris was simply a sort of nice, retro-sounding flower name and didn't even know it had any association w/mythology. IMO it goes nicely with Helen and the Greek bit is bonus. I also like Lily as suggested above. All three names just feel like they are from the same time period.

I'm also an avid reader, but lately have been reading Biogs./Autobiogs and Thriller/Mystery Fiction.

Of the Classics I liked:
"The Thorn Birds" = no really nice character names but of the actors = Rachel Ward (like Rachel) & Piper Laurie (like both names). There was also a Justine and a Fiona (Fee). 'Meggie" is not that good (R. Ward's character).

"Gone With The Wind" = Melanie & Ashley (Melanie's husband but is uni-sex.) Scarlett I don't care for but her sisters were Carreen and Suellen.

"Steel Magnolias" (not a classic but I love any Deep South settings)

Annelle = not everyone's cuppa tea.
M'Lynn = can be changed to Maelynn but too close to Helen.
Fern = was not a lead character but love the name. Can be Ferne.
Shelby = too 'Southern'? I like it.

I will look up some Irish Mythology as I like those names the best
.
