Re:Smoke ... Yes/No?
By MorgannsMommy 3 Years, 2 Months Ago
My mom has smoked my whole life. I hated it. It was a real issue when Morgann was born, my husband didn't even want her holding the baby. I didn't either, but I had a hard time saying no. She's my mother.

I know it is going to be an issue again with the next one, I am worried because it made for some very uncomfortable situations. I didn't even like taking the baby to her house because it smells so strongly of smoke. I tried talking to her about not smoking in the car on her way to our house but she does it anyway and lies about it, as if we can't smell it. My Brother and I both talked to her about not smoking in her new house to help keep it from smelling as bad as the old one, but she does anyway and lies about it. It is really difficult when you have to become the parent to your own parent. My mother and I switch those roles years ago.

I'm not sure what to do, except hope that someday something, anything will become more important to her than smoking.

Non-smoker here. I think I never smoked because my parents never smoked.

Re:Smoke ... Yes/No?
By MaMa Tink 3 Years, 2 Months Ago
I started smoking when i was around 12 or 13 and tried to quit the first time i got pregnant and when we lost her i jus started smoking more than i did b4 i got pregnant and then with this one i quit completely about two weeks after i found out i was pregnant. the smell makes me sick now so brandon smokes outside and no one smokes inside our house (even at night when its below freezing, if smoking is that important, they can get frost bite!!) but everyone still smokes in the car no matter how much i nag..... And it gets cold when the windows are down cuz everyone wants to smoke at the same time!! I've told everyone that if i see one lit cigarette around my baby then they'll be banned from being around her. not only is it a health hazzard but my mom smoked during and after i was born and accidently burned me when i was 5 months old. No one is going to have the chance to accidently burn my baby. And anyone who smells like smoke will have to change or something cuz i don't want my baby to get used to that smell, cuz i will make brandon quit one day.
