I was talking to my Mom the other day, and I asked her how she picked my brother's and my name. I never realized how much thought she had put in our names. I'd always thought that she picked them just because they were biblical. For me, I used to pay a lot of attention to the meanings of names, but slowly, I'm looking at how the names looks first, then the meaning.

What I want to ask you all is that, how would you explain to your children why you picked a certain name for them? If it's something like Jonathan which means 'God has given", it probably would mean something to a child, and also since Jonathan in the Bible was kinda a great person. But a name like Logan which means 'from the Hollow'? No offense to parents who had given that name to their child. It is really nice, I do like it, but how would you explain why you chose that name. Let's say now your child is.. 16 or older, and asked you why did you pick my name to be like that?

I'm just asking, no intention of creating drama, 'cause I realized that my future second daughter would (hopefully) be named Makynlie Rae, but it(or Mckinley) means fair haired foreigner, but.. I'm Asian? LOL!! So yeahh..

My son's name is Noah Aiden...
I first liked the name Noah a few years ago, before it was a more common name. I heard it from the movie "The Notebook", and I just fell in love with it I also liked it from a tv soap here in Aus called "Home and Away". I loved the story Noah's Arc as a kid, so yeah.. i guess i have a few reasons. Oh and his middle name, well his daddy picked that, i think just coz he liked it

Altogether his name means: Rest, comfort and little fire/fire it fits him so well! He is always either restful or a handful! lol

I think you could just tell your child you like the name and it would be fine!

Well most likely my first daughter will be named Shayne which is after me, I have no clue about a middle name right now. Gabby I love your name Makynlie Rae, it's so cute, I have actually thought about the name Shayne Mckynlie/ Mckynlie Shayne. So I would tell her about the whole story behind Shayne being my middle name, and about how my mom wanted to name me Shayne more than anything, but it became my middle name, and about how I absolutely hated it when I was little. And then I would tell her about how I started to love it and thought it would be a great idea to name my daughter that, and how my mom would be thrilled about it too!

And again most likely my first son will be Jayme, maybe Jayme Rylan.(?) And really I just fell in love with the name, I hate it for girls, but LOVE it on a boy. And all I hear constantly now is boys named Jaime/Jayme. I've seen it on tv A LOT! And met little boys with the name, and I have a Jaime in one of my classes and I also did last year, and my friend who just went to Georgia said she met a really cute guy and his name was Jaime! And I also plan on using the name Lucas James which James is after my granddad. And again I just love Lucas.

Simple, I liked the name lol. Zane means "Gift of God" but I'm not too into meanings, I just like how it sounds. Harrison means "the son of Harry".......weird. If Zane was a girl she'd be Rachael, which means Ewe..bahh.

Always loved the name Noah- after one of the greatest biblical figures. Means "rest". Leo after your pop. Done lol.

Don't know how we're going to explain the next one lol, something along the lines of "couldn't decided on a name, day of your birth saw a poster with your name on it" lol
