what do you think
By Lombardi 3 Months Ago
my husband is from Italy and would like to go for a Italian name preferably Annunziata. my personal thoughts on that name is that it is to different and i don't want my child to be made fun of since i am American. the name i like is celia keeping with the Italian meaning but it is easier to pronounce and so on. what do you think would be best?

Yes, I can understand your concern about that.

I do like Celia as well, and it is pronouncable for non-Italians. May I suggest you go to the Italian Names section, and research there. Have him do so as well, and you each make a list of about 10 names you like. Then compare them, and talk about what you want, and why you like it. If he wants a longer name suggest: Cecilia, Arabella,Adrianna, Cameo, Calista, etc. There are so many beautiful Italian girls names. Let us know what your 10 favorite names are.

Maybe a nice compromise....have his choice as a middle name and then you two look for a nice 1st name to go with it. Celia is pretty. There are many Italian names that are easier said and quite lovely.

some examples:
Carina =dear little one
bella/Isabella- God is my oath
Arabella-answered prayer
Allegra=cheerful and lively
celeste=heavenly
Celia=heavenly.....Annunziata means announce or announcer
Francesca=free
gabriella-strong one of God
Gemma-precious stone
Giana and Giovanna=God is gracious
Mariella-beloved
orabella-Golden beautiful
renata=reborn
Rosabel-beautiful rose
Susana=lily
stefania-crown

Just some that I found....also go to the main page here and click on Italian names and maybe you can get some ideas. good luck.

I don't think these are Italian but I've always liked -

Abrielle
Adrielle &
Adrienne ..... and an 'a' could be added on the end instead .... being Abby or Addy for a NN. But short names like 'Lia', 'Pia' and 'Gia' or "Tia Maria" can be nice too.

Just something to consider
