i actually got it from a book by tamora pierce, where a boy gives himself the name. and i just fell for it. i was about 9 or 10 at the time.

But i think the problem might be that i (as an absolute disney junkie) have never seen sleeping beauty in english, only german. and so obviously she never gets called briar in german...

but i suppose i will just wait and see. Maybe i can find a way to hyphenate it into something more masculine.
