Im lookin for an african american baby name that starts with an "L". i was thinking of maybe la'Mya Ann... DOes that sound right?

ive just looked it up and la'mya is not a name and has no meaning. traditional african names do not have apostrophes in them. you may want to try something like amaya, im not sure what language but i know it means night rain.

yea...thats my godchilds name...and i thought since my name started with an L..i thought that would be cute!! i wish it had meaning...what about ja'mya?

I like the name Aisha, Thats an African American Name that has meaning to it.

You said you wanted an African American name, to me that means combining both cultures of the traditional African heritage with modern Americanism. I think that La'mya is a cute name. I also like the traditional African name Ayana (which means pretty flower in Ethiopian). You could always modernize it to be L'ayana. (PN Lay-ana). If you want it to have meaning explain it that you took a beautiful name and applied a little of your heart to make it special. Good luck.
