Tiereny
By James 2 Years Ago
I'm a first time poster we are expecting our first baby a girl in may and my wife is really set on Tiereny as a first name. Does it sound okay I have my doubts about it, its a family name so she really wants to use it. Is it a girls name or do you think boy when you hear it? What are some nicknames for it I really can't think of any? Our last name is Meehan and the middle name will be either Jill (her mother) or Katherine/ Kate (my mother).

James

My 12 year old daughter is named "Tierney". Pronounced TEER nee. Marie is her middle name. I think that the way you have it spelled (Tiereny) would have people pronouncing it like the work "tyrrany". Not good. I (obviously) think it's a GORGEOUS name. For 12 years we have only gotten compliments on it. She loves that she is the only Tierney around.

Oh, and by the way...

When she was little everyone called her tee-tee. Now that she's a big girl she is "Tee". Congratulations on your baby girl. There's nothing like 'em!
