Confused? By NYC 3 Months Ago I am having some finanical choices that I have to make before my girls are born. I have the option of either staying in my current apartment in Greenwhich Village in New York with a rent of about $600 dollars a month. Or I have been looking at homes in the Bronx and I have found 3 good, small homes. They are perfect for the new little family that I will have soon. I am just having some trouble deciding on what to do.
I also need some help on deciding colors and bedding and other things for the girls nursery. So if ANYONE out there has some advice, I would really appreicate it!

Re:Confused? By DONE GOODBYE genevra 3 Months Ago Sorry to ask such personal questions, but I need to get details. How much will your mortgage payment come to per month? How small, how many bedrooms does your new house have. Is the house in a safe community? Do you have your downpayment in order, for the deposit for the mortgage? When are your babies due?
Absolutely, owning your own home is the best/rather than rent. Will you stay in the neighborhood for a while, or are you a gypsy type, who likes to relocate alot? Make sure you have a house inspection done, so you are aware of the repairs the house will require. Any home can be updated simply by replacing the flooring, and painting. Paint the kitchen cupboards with high gloss oil paint - any color you like. Brush it on, not roller. Or roller first, but brush right over rolled area to make it look smooth. You do not need to have granite countertops. See if you can relocate the laundry machines stacked up in a closet upstairs - which will allow you better supervision of the babies. Re: Paint, you may find great deals, if you ask for mistints at the paint section. Mix and match, but buy mistints for 1/4 cost price. Create with what you have, or mix them all together, add 2 gallons of white, and you get taupe. Paint away, and feel great that you saved money. Add a little blk, make it a darker taupe. Mix enough for each room. Anyway, buying a house, to make it a home, to have a HOME, is absolutely the best idea. Tell us more, about your choices. - Genevra Last Edit: 2008/08/29 00:14 By DONE GOODBYE genevra.

By MyFortitude22 3 Months Ago I love the whole jungle theme for either sex. I'm an artist and when I do have a child... whenever that will be now.. I am painting full size elephants and giraffes and that stuff. I think it's equal to both.
I also hate that typical pink for girls and blue for boys crap. Ideas I know of; Winnie the Poo Disney Characters I think Green with a yellow trim about 1/4ths up the wall with a "pondish" feel is very cute. Like little frogs, some water lilys, and some blades of weeds/grass. Throwing out some ideas

Re:Confused? By iluvandy 3 Months Ago For a girl I am going to do her room in Ladybugs! With the colors, yellow, red, and greens. Bright, happy colors.
And for a boy, it will probably be the jungle theme. with the colors, yellow, hunter green, tans, browns, reds, all that good stuff. I was thinking of doing my boys room in John Deere Tractors. The greens and yellows. We are from the South so John Deeres are big here. I was going to get a bunch of old looking tractor signs, like tractor crossing signs and stuff like that. But for a baby I think I would rather do the Jungle animals. I know you must be excited about doing fixing their little room up. Its fun, my husband tells me the only reason I want to have a baby is to fix their room's up. LOL!

Re:Confused? By NYC 3 Months Ago Thank you guys!! I found this amazing little home in Brooklyn that is REALLY cheap and it is not a rental. It is so beautiful and thankfully, it is only 19 minutes away from New York City. The home has 2 bed and 2 bath. It is perfect!
Now all I have to do is choose names and plan to decorate the nursery. I still cant decide on a color scheme... I dont think I am going with wallpaper, but I am going to get my dad to help me paint the nursery, I just dont know what color... Any suggestions?
