Re:potty training By MorgannsMommy 3 Years, 7 Months Ago We started potty training our daughter just after a year old. Just introducing her to the potty really. We encourage her to sit on it, she has certain toys she can play with or books she can read only if she sits on the potty; and if we happen to catch her and she goes on the potty we make a big deal out of it and let her flush it and say bye bye.
Morgann only used a pacifier for about two months so I don't have much advice about that. But a women I work with has a boy 2 mo. younger than Morgann, he is 16 mo. old, and she has not taken his pacifier away be she has limited him to only using it at night. She said this is typically how she has weened all of her children. At a certain age she limits it to night time only and then when they switch to a big boy/girl bed no more pacifier. Hope this helps, good luck. Last Edit: 2008/07/03 07:57 By MorgannsMommy.

By Kate 3 Years, 7 Months Ago I started potty training Liam and Grace (my 1 1/2 year old twins) a few weeks ago. I have a special drawer of stickers, and they each get to choose a sticker if they go on the potty. (I know it sounds cheap, but it works!) My other son Aidan (now 3) was very difficult to potty train. When we started giving him an m&m to go on the potty, he started getting better. However before that, he would refuse to go. I guess some tequniques work different on different kids! He was finally fully potty trained at about 2 1/2, but we had started a year earlier

By mhigham4 3 Years, 7 Months Ago My son is 3 years and 2 months old. He just potty trained and did it fully and completely in 1 week, no lie. He was old enough and he was ready. We went to the store and he picked out Cars and Thomas the train underwear. We put them on and only did pull ups during nap and bedtime. He only did the pull ups at naptime for about 2 weeks and I actually think I could stop them at night too. he had a total of 4 accidents. A lot of people start very early and I have my own opinion on that. You can start that early and train for a year+ or you can just wait until they are truely ready and be done in a week. My son had used the potty for the year up until now, but only every now and then, he wasn't actually "training" because I never took it farther than that. He would refuse, so I backed off. I suggest that when you truely think he is ready, go with underwear, not pull ups. Pull ups are differently designed diapers, they won't do the trick. You will have accidents to clean up but the process will go much faster. I will be having another baby in August and will just wait until I know she is fully ready too. Why spend a year doing it? Let him experience it and use it when he wants, but don't push and don't pressure. If he refuses, back off. Pressuring is the fastest way to ruin your hopes of having it done any time soon!

By puck 3 Years, 7 Months Ago we let our daughter pick out panites at the store. she chose princess ones and we told her she could wear them if she went on the potty. if she went in them they would have to go away. she was potty trained at 20 months.
with the binky, the longer you let them keep it, the harder it is. for my daughters first birthday, we got her to gather all the bottles and soothers together, and let her throw them in the trash for her 'big girl' birthday. she did it, and it was okay because she'd done it herself and we didnt take it away.
