Should I be concerned???
By sierrasmommy08 4 Months, 1 Week Ago
My baby girl just turned 6 months old and she still hasnt learned how to crawl, she hates being on her stomach everytime I lay her on her tummy she just cries.
should i be concerned about the fact that she hates being on her tummy and that she still doesnt know how to crawl??

I know someone who has a one year old, and she's so excited because he's learning to crawl. She NEVER puts him on the floor.

Maybe you just need to set her down more, she'll probably figure it out on her own...

my 1st born was 6 mos efor he started tokinda crawl/pull imself along, believe it or not, 6-8 mos is quite normal to learn to crawl, just persist with the tummy time, THATS crucial, try putting a mirror on the floor((not under her, standing up near her, just outta reach)) where she can see herself((babies LOVE their own reflecion)), lotsa cool bright noise making toys,((does she roll over yet, from tummy to back or from back to tummy?)) and most improtantly, get on the floor with her, babies dont like the floor if they are just put there and everyone walks away...
my youngest ((i have 4 kids)) is 14 weeks old TODAY YAY and has had stomach surgery, he now has a colostomy bag, and he didnt tolerate tummy time very well, now he can do it for an hour or more at a time, & hes just started rolling over, it just takes patience and perserverence ..

also u may wanna wait till after she has had a feed or a bottle, or even a bath, so shes in a calm hapy content mood, and if the screaming continues,
& make sure its not wind or some kinda tummy ache that shes screaming at, coz she is in pain lying on her tummy...
justa thought

My daughter hated being on her stomach also, she would cry and once she learned to roll over; forget about it she was done with tummy time.

We had my daughter evaluated at 10 mo. because she wasn't crawling yet. They gave us some tips to help her and she was crawling by 11 mos. They had us put her over our leg or a poppy so her tummy would be elevated and her legs and feet on the ground. We did it for as long as she would tolerate it. We also kept putting objects that she really wanted just out of her reach and placing her on her hands and knees. She would get so frustrated because she wanted to go forward so bad but usually ended up going backward or ended up right back on her butt. but we just kept working with her and one day she just wanted that lightup pen so bad that she did it and then there was no stopping her; I was tossing that pen all over the room.

Not crawling at 6 mo isn't anything to worry about, but if she gets up around 9 or 10 mos., I would talk to your pediatrician.

Good Luck.

My baby cousin Libby was about 8 months in November and she still wasn't crawling, just pulling herself around. And she didn't start walking until after she was 1. All babies are different, some start early and some later. For one thing she is spoiled and always wanted to be held and I think she's just like her dad and is really easy-going takes her time.
