I have heard the same thing, but the only issue I have has with my son when he was small was that he choked VERY easily on water. So I always made sure he was sitting up and alert when I were to give him any (especially when it was summertime, I do NOT think it is bad to give a human water when it is hot outside)! Formula tends to spoil in the stomach when it is hot outside, so water was our in between feedings drink..

ok for newborns water IS too hin for them , as BraysMomma said, they will choke on it, the only time i give my kids water is when they have bad tummy aches, its great for brining up wind, but it has to be slightly warm.. otherwise , i wouldnt start giving my kids water just to drink until they are eating full meals, breakfast, lunch & dinner.. breast milk & formula give them all the dietary and needs hydration that is needed..

My pediatrician told me no water. The only thing a baby needs for the first 4 to 6 mo. of life is breastmilk (or formula). If you use the powdered formula, it is mixed with water.
The less things a baby is exposed to prior to 6 mo. the better it is for there immune system, brain development, allergies, etc.
