It's actually not always illegal in all states. You would have to look up your state laws to know if it was. There are laws in some states that state that the couple having sex, if older than the age of 15 can legally agree to sex with someone who is within five years of their age. So in this case, if this was the law in your state, it wouldn't be illegal.

And my advice. You need to figure out when you last period was. And Then figure out when you are due to start. If you are past a week late from when you should be starting, than you need to take a test. If you are only a day or two late, you need to relax because stress can mess up your period, especially if you haven't been taking your birth control on time or skipping and doubling up. If you are over a week late, then you really do need to take a test sweetie!! Nothing will ease the unknown better than knowledge.

I am totally fine with her loving an older man and an older man loving her. That is totally fine with me AND with the law. It's the sex that is illegal. So for all the men out their that are loving (or preying, depending on how you look at it) on these young teen girls, love them all you want, but save the "making love" for their 18th birthday.

I agree entirely. Love is love, but sex and love are NOT the same thing, and therefore the excuse 'love has no age', though I believe it true, is not what we are talking about. Illegal sex and love are two COMPLETELY different things. Though they may have had sex because they love each other, the law does not care.

The age gap provision legalizes some sexual contact as long as the gap between the two individuals is no more than the set amount.


In Iowa, the age of consent is 16, with a age gap provision for those aged 14 and 15, as long as their partners is less than 4 years older.

The mistake of age defense is weather there is precedents for "Oooopsy, she looked 18 to me" being used as a defense in a Stat rape or chold molest case.
