I really like River but I am the same as you... I love unique names and my husband likes more traditional names. We resently had a little girl and we named her Audrey Brooks, a traditional first name and a more unique middle name. What about taking a name that he likes and making a unique spelling... for example Jamii and then put a name you like as the middle name. Jamii River... very nice. I plan on doing something like this with our next child. He likes the traditional name Katie so maybe we will spell it Kaydee. I dont know just suggestions maybe it will help.
