...isnt that minorly hypocritcal? are you going to think your kids are neophytes when there teens? i think my teens are brilliant and i'm a blunt and truthful person i dont lie to my kids just to make them feel special!

Very true, lilyA. I'm very afriad of my girls becoming pregnant, or my son getting a girl pregnant because I had my first daugther at 17. I would never say it ruined my life, but it definitely altered it. I think having a teenager is even scarier then having an infant. I mean, you can't monitor them all the time and I know that no matter how brilliant and smart a teen is, there's always a possibility. However, I think you need to be open about sex with teenagers. Give them all the facts. While I wouldn't like my kids to have sex at a young age, I am under no delusions that they never will. I myself was a teenage mom! My daughter, Rosalie is 16 (I made a typo earlier and said that Jill was my oldest, Rosalie is actually. I meant second oldest) and has a steady boyfriend, I trust her but there are definitely rules when he's at our house. LilyA, I must say, you always post something wise in the forums you comment on. Your kids are lucky!

Good for you, KatieG. and I know what you mean and how peer pressure is strong among teens. You stay strong, stick to your beliefs and don't let anyone make you feel like you have to give in. As I said earlier, stay away from situations you know will tempt you. You're making a good decision to wait.

thank you very much! with all my kids i give a little sex ed. lesson to, like i think its good for them to be informed i wont lie to them and say i didnt mess up because i did..i had my first son (jamie 16) the day after i turned 17 (great birthday gift for a 17 yearold) and i pulled back into place and i dont knwo how i did so yes..i will supply my son with condemns and i will talk to my kids about it!
