shaving legs
By yo-yo-yo-yogurt 3 Years, 8 Months Ago
My daughter Keely is 11 years old and wants to start shaving her legs. I don't know if it's nessacary for her to, since she has white blond hair, which makes the hair completely unnoticable. I know I shouldn't tell her she's not ld enough, because she is. What should I do?

this problem is very common. You don't want her to start now because truth is shaving your legs is a hassle. There might be something behind it and try talking to her about why she wants to shave her legs, so you get a good understanding. I think she's too young for sure, and at least wait until she's 12. especially if her hair is blond.

Tell her that once she starts doing it shes going to have to keep up with it because her hair will come back dark. I first shaved my legs when I was in 5th grade, I hid it from my mom a long time but when she found out he didn't care. Its not that big of a deal though. Good luck with it!

It'd be different if your daughter is 11 and has dark hair on her legs. Then I could understand why she'd want to shave. But like you said, she has white blonD hair. What would be the need for her to shave?

Well, since the weather has been really hot lately, Keely has been wearing shorts a lot. She got out of school last Thursday, and she said that all week people were wearing short shorts too. Her friends have been persuading her to try it, because they say it really helps. But all of her friends have dark hair and brown hair. I think it's more of Keely having peer presure rather than her actually wanting to do it.

My mother wouldnt let me shave either, and I got made fun of for it. It doesnt always matter if your hair is blond or not, cause mine is and was then but the older kids made fun of it, I started shaving behind my mothers back that summer and it was never an issue after that. I understand that she has the rest of her life, but it can hold her back if you make her wait, plus make her very uncomfortable in situations. It is just like everything else you try to keep kids from doing, if they want to do it, they are going to do it, you might as well let her do it, so that you can show her the right way to do it and all that good stuff...a great bonding moment, for sure! Good Luck!
