Hi everyone. Im a newbie to the board, and to impending motherhood and i thought i would drop in and say hello to everyone I was wondering if anyone has had any surgical procedures done previous to becoming pregnant and had any problems at all. I have had quite a few in my lifetime due to being a preemie and was curious if my scar tissue and mesh(from a hernia operation) would have any negative effects on myself or the baby as it grows. Any advice or anyone with experience with this would be greatly appreciated

i had lung cancer as a teenager, and i have a drain in my left lung due to continuing fluid buildup. i have a 3 year old and a 6 day old baby, and it didnt interfere. i have been through chemo/radiaton/the works, and my babies are just fine and healthy. i had cancerous tissue removed just prior to my being pregnant the first time, and my scar did threaten to open up ,but luckily it didnt. good luck to you, hope everything goes well!

Thanks so much for your reply. all of my scars and scar tissue are in my abdomen area which does concern me a little. Im hoping to find out more through my doctor and an OB as soon as i can see one but so far everything seems like it will progress properly.
