Briar...?
By mimigrace 2 Months, 4 Weeks Ago
Hi,
i'm not pregnant yet, but when i do have a son i'd like to give him the middle name briar (well i'd like to give it to him as a first name, but i like multiple names, and if i call him briar XYZ, it sounds too much like friar to me).

I just wanted to know some opinions, and for people to maybe point out other possible teasing points for me. Or tell me whether the payout 'friar' would be used if it was his first name.

Thanks a bunch!

Briar-Rose was the name of Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty. That might create a problem for a young boy. If you're really set on using that name, I would put it in the middle name spot and use a strong, masculine name in the first spot to counteract the feminine middle name.

Briar Is A Girls Name
& My Niece Is 14 And Called Briar And Shes Never Got Friar

If You Wanna Call Him Briar Go For It, He Might Get Teased But Then Again Maybe Not

Well, which site to believe??

I've read that Briar is uni-sex. Spelt Brier for a boy (??)

I like
Brier-Rose for a girl or
Brierlee

As for naming my son that - I don't think so.

The etymology for the name Briar has no gender associations because it means "thorny bush." However, I'm sure most people find this to be a girls name. I think it's a name more suitable for a girl.
