I agree, puck. I think the ultimate question is whether or not you can ban this user, Irene, he HAS committed a serious crime, do you not agree that it is extremely unsafe to have someone wandering among the site, freely, scamming people???

I think its abit pointless that we have to add ppl before we can send private messages, because how will that stop people from scamming us? They will still be able to do it once you connect!!

Only add people you talk to on pulic board- even that wont stop them, a scammer could be registered on here and talk to us all the time via public board. Just because we know of them & they username doesnt not mean we know everything about them and what they get up to in their free-time!?

My suggestions:
1. Scam messages are scam messages we get them evrerywhere on emails on other social networks and so on so the best is just to ignore. at the end is not a big deal unless you believe those kind of scammers.
2. If someone is annoying you can ban them from the private messaging system - there is a ban user option
3. I think you can also ban a connection, so if you added a new connection and found out that it is a scammer you can always ban the user.
